Itinerary
Depart Nairobi and drive to Chogoria town for a relaxed evening before the climb.
Overnight: Chogoria Bandas / lodge in town
Enter Mount Kenya National Park. Trek through a montane forest filled with giant trees and birdlife.
Overnight: Meru Bandas
Climb gradually to the stunning Lake Ellis. Spectacular views of the rolling moorlands and volcanic ridges.
Overnight: Camp at Lake Ellis
Follow the trail along the ridge to Lake Michaelson, perched beneath towering cliffs of the Gorges Valley. One of the most scenic spots on Mount Kenya.
Overnight: Camp at Lake Michaelson
Cross high ridges and moorland before linking up with the Sirimon route to Shipton’s Camp, the base for summit day.
Overnight: Shipton’s Camp
Pre-dawn ascent to Point Lenana, the trekking summit of Mount Kenya. Enjoy a breathtaking sunrise over the mountain. Descend through Mackinder Valley to Old Moses Camp.
Overnight: Old Moses Camp
Final descent through the forest to Sirimon Gate. Drive back to Nairobi, arriving late afternoon
