This trek combines the scenic Sirimon route, known for its gradual ascent and stunning alpine landscapes, with a descent via the Naro Moru route, offering a classic Mount Kenya climbing experience. Standing at Point Lenana (4,985m), the third-highest peak, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views stretching across the Kenyan highlands and, on clear mornings, even glimpses of Kilimanjaro.

Itinerary

Depart Nairobi and drive through Nanyuki to Sirimon Gate (2,600m). Begin the trek through montane forest, bamboo, and heathland zones. A 3–4 hour hike brings you to Old Moses Camp for acclimatization.
Overnight: Old Moses Camp

After breakfast, ascend through moorland valleys with views of giant lobelias and senecios. Cross the Ontulili and Likii North Valleys before climbing into Mackinder’s Valley. Arrive at Shipton’s Camp, set below the dramatic peaks.
Overnight: Shipton’s Camp

Spend the day acclimatizing with a short hike around Shipton’s Camp, exploring nearby ridges and valleys. This day is vital for adjusting to the altitude and preparing for the summit attempt.
Overnight: Shipton’s Camp

Pre-dawn ascent to Point Lenana, reaching the summit in time for sunrise — a breathtaking reward. Descend via the Naro Moru route, passing Mackinder’s Camp and the vertical bog, before arriving at Met Station.
Overnight: Met Station

After breakfast, trek down through forest to Naro Moru Gate (2,600m), where you’ll meet your transfer vehicle for the return drive to Nairobi.
